Our Story

About Our Approach

Provision of safe drinking water at an affordable cost and required quantity, depends on the source water quality, efficiency of water resource management and governance. A purification process eliminates undesired contaminants and mitigates risks that can lead to potential health hazards.

As Greware, we source our feed water from local municipality authorised sources and from pre-secured surface and groundwater sources authorised by relevant authorities.

Our water purification process is designed and operated according to the level of raw water contamination in order to meet the standard of the intended water use.

The following are essential attributes of water purification:

• Remove unnecessary bacteria and viruses

• Eliminate unwanted chemicals and toxins

• Eliminate contaminants that can result in unpleasant odor, colour, and taste.

Water gets contaminated with impurities ranging from organic compounds, minerals, and gases that change the physical characteristics of water (temperature, turbidity, electrical conductivity, colour), chemical (pH, chemical and biological demand of oxygen, total organic carbon, alkalinity) and biological quality of water.

Membrane-based Purification System

We utilise a membrane-based purification system. Membrane technology is a pressure driven processes that includes: microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO). A membrane-based distillation process is advantageous due to it being modular and easy to be ramped up. It also contains no chemical additives, is simple to operate, with relatively low energy consumption. Membrane technology is regarded as the most robust and flexible technologies for water purification. Membrane separation technology has different separation mechanism and application range. Some of the common membrane separation processes can be summarised as the Table below:

Power Source

Our mobile water purification plants are powered by mobile diesel or petrol generators which can be mounted on the purification unit. This is necessary for the remote operation of the plant.

Storage, Transportation, and Delivery

Purified water is either stored in tanks or discharged directly into water tankers for distribution. We transport the water through 20 000 and 10 000L water tankers which are equipped with pumping, metering, and conveyance pipes for water delivery.

Quality Assurance

For quality assurance, we monitor our water on an ongoing basis to ensure a good and compliant service. Water quality monitoring is conducted according to recommendations of SANS 241:2015 and covers the entire water supply value chain:

• Feed water

• Purified water

• Water transported in water tankers

Our water quality monitoring is in accordance with Water Service Authority requirements and covers; physical, chemical and microbiological contaminants. Water quality monitoring is both compliant and operational. Compliant monitoring is conducted by an accredited laboratory while operational monitoring is conducted by plant operators and part of the water purification process.
